Identifying Termites
Termites are small insects that are often confused with carpenter ants. They have tiny mouths that are lined with saw like teeth that can cause significant damage on buildings and structures. Feeding on wood, they can cause an entire construction to collapse. They look like:
- 1/8" long.
- Creamy white and brown.
- Long, narrow, oval bodies.
- Six legs, and antennae.
- Live in underground colonies.
- Build "mud tubes" to reach food sources.
Signs of a termite invasion
- Flying Termites - Having flying termites is the first sign of a termite problem.
- White Ants - Termites are light but look like ants. Ants are darker.
- Head Banging - The soldier of termites making a quiet clicking sounds coming from the walls.
